The Lotus flower emerges from muddy water, opens its petals, and shows the world its beauty. It stands out against the murky water as a clean, pure symbol of hope and new beginnings.
It is an important symbol in Buddhism because it represents re-birth, purity, and spiritual awakening. The Lotus flower is able to emerge from muddy water completely clean as if it has been cleansed and is ready for a new chapter.
Why is the Lotus flower an important symbol for my life?
🌸 Are you feeling stuck in your life?
The feeling of being stuck can be so debilitating that it keeps us frozen in time and unable to see what's next. If this is you, think back to a time when you felt happy and free and write down what you were doing. Allow yourself to feel those same happy emotions while writing down a plan of how you are going to get back to that situation. Think of the Lotus flower closing its petals and sinking below the water, recharging and getting ready to emerge even more beautiful than before.
🌸 Are you afraid to enter a new chapter?
A new chapter is coming and its unknown so it can be scary. Allow yourself to really feel the fear and identify why those feelings are coming up. Think back on a time when you overcame fear and triumphed. Even though the new chapter is unknown, you can handle it and triumph again. Think of the lotus flower and its courage to emerge from the water and show its beauty even though it doesn't know what to expect.
🌸 Have you been diagnosed with an illness?
A diagnosis of an illness is scary and unknown and affects us in so many ways. If we give into that diagnosis and accept it, it becomes a guiding factor in our life and limits our possibility. What if in addition to treatment of our diagnosis, we think of the Lotus flower and how it emerges from muddy water clean and pure. It is a symbol of a good outcome (clean petals) from a dark situation (muddy waters). Think about this and let this imagine guide your thoughts even in the darkest of times.
🌸 Have you recently lost someone close to you?
Losing someone close to you is so painful and the process of healing is different for every person. It takes time and patience and you must allow yourself time to grieve and really feel everything that is happening to you. Think of the Lotus flower closing its petals and sinking below the water - it is recharging and getting ready to emerge and show its beauty again. The Lotus flower teaches us that its ok to draw yourself inwards and heal but we must always emerge and share our individual beauty with the world.
