Guided Christian Meditation for Stress Relief

Meditation is a proven treatment for stress and can help to improve your overall well-being. By practicing the following Guided Stress Relief Meditation, you'll learn how your body and mind interact and how to influence your mental state by promoting calmness and contentment through God's love.

 

🌤️ Guided Christian Meditation for Stress Relief

1. Find a comfortable place to sit. You may choose to prepare your meditation space with personal touches such as candles or incense.

 

2. Breathe in for the count of 2 and breathe out for the count of 4 until you feel more relaxed. Each breath should be deeper and fuller as you slow your breathing and relax your body.

 

3. Tense up your muscles, from your feet to your neck and allow your body to suddenly relax. Hold the tension for a few more seconds and relax. Let your entire body be heavy.

 

4. Take another deep breath and reflect on God and His love for you.

 

5. And now with this peaceful state, imagine all your worries, fears, and stress melting away as you focus on your relationship with God. His strength will guide you and hold you up (Isaiah 41:10).

 

6. Imagine you are high above the clouds, looking down at the Earth. You are resting on a soft, bouncy cloud and giving thanks for God and His love (Philippians 4:6). The air sweeps you along, but you are perfectly warm, relaxed, and secure.

 

7. Take in the sights, sounds, and smell. You can feel God’s love radiating through every cell of your body. This is your sacred place. Allow the warmth of this place to relax your muscles and release any tightness.

 

8. Take a few moments now to repeat the process. Breathing in, filling your soul with God’s love, exhaling, releasing stress and tension.

 

9. Repeat to yourself: God’s love is infinite, and I am a wonderful being meant to share that love (Psalm 147:5). I love God with my mind, heart, and soul.

 

10. Take a long slow breath in. Gently release the breath feeling peaceful and relaxed, re-awaking your body by slowly moving your fingers and toes.

 

11. Be mindful of the gift of relaxation you've just given yourself, knowing that you carry the cloud and God's love with you always.
