Finding Your Balance

Balance was the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, which takes place on March 8 every year.

Balance can mean different things to different people. In the context of International Women’s Day, balance means gender equality in all areas of life. This includes education, access to services, and fair wages.

But what does balance mean in your life?

Maybe it means that you leave work at the office, and when you come home it’s family time. Or maybe it means limiting the amount of social media you consume on a daily basis. Maybe it means having time to exercise every day, or to make your favorite foods.

Whatever balance looks like for you, it’s a vital aspect of your life.  Without balance, your body will feel stressed and you’ll feel like there’s never enough time.

So how do you find balance?

  1. Start by making a conscious decision to become balanced. Take time for yourself every day. Meditate with your favorite mala, repeating a mantra that resonates with you. Here are some example mantras you could use:
    • My time is important. I will invest in myself today.
    • My heart and mind are open to possibilities.
    • I am strong, stable, and at peace.
    • I will let go of things that are beyond my control.
    • I am worthy.

  1. Set goals in every area of your life. Your physical body, your relationships, your job, and your spirit are all important. Having a realistic goal will give you something to work towards.
  1. Plan and execute your goals. What daily tasks do you need to take to reach your goals? It can be as simple as making a conscious choice to eat breakfast every morning to fuel your body for the day ahead.

  2. Assess and re-examine your focus.Are you focusing too much on external factors like your job? Make sure to focus on internal factors as well, like your mental health and spiritual alignment. When you’re balanced, no area of your life will be neglected. Sometimes this means taking a hard look in the mirror and being honest about where you can improve.

Find the balance in your life with the help of a mala. Use the mala during your meditation to keep count and to help you connect on a deeper level.
